The Role
We’re at an exciting stage and are looking to expand the team. We are looking for a Pattern Engineer / Apparel Product Developer/ Garment Technician to develop our company’s capabilities to customize more types of garments. We have ambitious goals to roll out a range of woven & CMT knit basics for men’s lower body and women’s wear. You will be reporting to our company’s Pattern and Production Manager and working closely with the whole team. The role includes:
*Creating technical specification packages for new garments
*Developing fits, tolerances and eases for new garments
*Digitally evaluating garments for quality, conducting fit sessions, and making recommendations for pattern improvements
*Consulting clients regarding fabric and manufacturer choices
*Collaborating with and onboarding apparel manufacturers into the production process
*Improving and documenting product development and manufacturer onboarding processes
Your Profile
Must have:
*You have 3-5 years experience as a pattern engineer/pattern cutter, technical apparel product developer, garment or fit technician or a similar role.
*You are highly proficient in using CAD software for pattern creation, manual pattern alteration, and grading for menswear, woven garments. Knitwear and womenswear is an additional bonus (e.g., Gerber, Lectra, Optitex, etc.).
*You are highly proficient in Adobe CS programs for product development and creation of tech packs (Illustrator, Photoshop).
*You have first-hand experience developing grade rules, tolerances and fits for a variety of garment types.
*You have a keen understanding of the relationship of pattern to body and how to simply and effectively adjust garment patterns to fit the body well.
*You are eager to question the status quo and believe that the fashion industry is long overdue for change.
*You have excellent collaboration and communication skills, both with internal and external stakeholders and across functions.
*You’re resourceful, self-motivated and thrive in fast-paced environments.
*You’re fluent in English, spoken and written.
*Location with timezone within +/- 2 hours of Berlin (fully remote is possible).
Nice to have:
*You have experience in using digital product development software for fit development and pattern analysis (e.g., Browzwear, Clo3D, etc.).
*You have fitting or alterations experience for a variety of body sizes and shapes, especially plus- or larger sizes.
*You have experience developing patterns within a manufacturer setting.
*You have experience working with made-to-measure and/or mass-customized apparel.
*You specialize in developing women’s wear (Note: our company is currently developing men’s wear but plans to expand to women’s wear).
*B2 or higher German language skills, especially in the context of the apparel industry.
