The Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA) is a global coalition of national and sub-national governments, businesses and organisations working to advance the transition away from unabated coal power generation. In our communications work, we build momentum for a faster transition away from coal by encouraging more governments and business to make ambitious commitments, showcasing their achievements, as well as giving them a platform to call for more action from others.

Your position will be overseen by the PPCA Communications Manager. Our international team is driven by the desire to make a real impact on the world. You will be part of a highly dynamic, impact-driven international team. You will also have an opportunity to closely collaborate with the Alliance’s co-chairs, members and partners, the governments of Canada and the United Kingdom.
Job Requirements

Our challenges

Creating Content: You’ll be the mastermind behind strengthening the online presence of the PPCA and developing content for its website, newsletter and social media channels.

Webinars that Shine: Take the lead in promoting our webinars and website articles under the Alliance’s knowledge sharing activities on just transition, health impacts of coal power and transitioning power grids.

Innovate our Communication: Imagine new ways to captivate our audience. Develop social media packages, videos, infographics, and more to transform our PPCA Summit into an event that draws a global audience.

Amplify Our Network: Support coordination of a network of members and partners to amplify PPCA comms activities via digital communications, incl. engaging with relevant Social Media accounts, developing and sharing content for partners’ channels.

Beyond Digital: Support other ongoing communications work, including media work, network coordination, liaising with communications providers.

Additional Support: Contribute to ad hoc administrative and operational tasks, where required. Your adaptability will be a valuable asset.

 

Your Profile

It is an exciting opportunity for a highly driven candidate who has the ambition and passion to play an active role in speeding up the energy transition internationally.

We are looking for a talented communicator with demonstrated experience in digital marketing or campaigning, especially running social media channels on behalf of an organisation, organising and promoting online events, writing copy for websites and newsletters, and producing visual content using tools such as Canva.

You need to be able to work and learn quickly, both independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced, international environment, as part of a high-trust network of stakeholders in the climate and energy field. We will offer you on-the-job mentoring and a space to develop and challenge yourself.

 

Essential Experience

·        At least three years of demonstrated professional experience in digital communication.

·        Knowledge / working experience of the energy and climate sectors.

·        Demonstrated interest in the core mission and values of the PPCA.

·        An eye for design, and familiarity with visual content creation tools like Canva.

·        Strong teamwork, accountability, and communication skills.

·        Highly organised, attention to detail.

·        Excellent written and spoken English language skills. German is a plus.

Desirable Experience

·        Knowledge / working experience of co-operating with a large network of organisations.

·        Robust administrative/project management skills, including for event planning and delivery.
